A programme on “Sugarcane Cultivation – Technical Discussion and Distribution of Soil Health Cards” was organized on 26-01-2026, at Shri Rameshwara Educational Institution, Hulakund village, Ramdurg taluk of Belagavi district—the birthplace of the late Dr. S. V. Patil. The programme was jointly organized by Dr. S. V. Patil Foundation (Regd.), University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad, KLE Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Mattikopp, and University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad.
As resource persons for the technical discussion on sugarcane cultivation, Dr. Balachandra Nadagoud, Professor, and Dr. Sunil Kumar Nooli, Principal, Diploma College, Hukkeri, as well as Dr. S. M. Warad, Subject Matter Specialist (Soil Science), KLE Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Mattikopp, participated and provided useful information to the farmers of Hulakund.
The programme was presided over by Dr. P. L. Patil, Vice-Chancellor, University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad, who distributed Soil Health Cards to the farmers of Hulakund and assured that the University is always ready to serve farmers.
In the introductory address, Dr. H. B. Babalad spoke about the objectives and activities of the Foundation and emphasized the importance of soil testing. Dr. V. C. Patil, a disciple of the late Dr. S. V. Patil, stated that a farmer who works in the field is the true farmer and highlighted that, along with agriculture, animal husbandry is an extremely important activity. He added that the University of Agricultural Sciences always seeks farmers’ welfare and that by following its advice and adopting systematic farming, farmers can prosper and remain happy.
Dr. V. B. Kuligod, Dean (Agri) and Vice-President of the foundation informed about the importance of Soil Health Card and acknowledged the help rendered by KLE Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Mattikopp and UAS Dharwad in analysing the soil samples for creating the database of Hulakund Village at free of cost.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Y. H. Mumbareddi assured full cooperation for all programmes undertaken by the Foundation.
The programme was attended by Dr. H. B. Babalad, Dr. B. N. Aravind Kumar, Dr. V. B. Kuligod, Smt. Shivalila Ashok Ullegaddi, President of the Gram Panchayat, among others. Shri R. S. Patil, Principal delivered the welcome address, Dr. U. K. Shanwad proposed the vote of thanks, and Shri R. A. Kadapatti compered the programme.
