Dharwad, Feb. 25: The University of Agricultural Sciences (UAS), Dharwad, through the College of Agriculture and the Dr. S. V. Patil Foundation & Chair for Research, Training and Farmers’ Welfare (R), organized the Fourth Foundation Day Lecture in commemoration of the birth anniversary of late Dr. S. V. Patil at the CCSC Auditorium on Tuesday, 25th February.
Prof. S. R. Mahadeva Prasanna, Director, IIIT-Dharwad, delivered the Foundation Day Lecture on the theme “AI and AI: Artificial Intelligence and Agriculture Intelligence for Transformative Solutions.” He highlighted the role of digital technologies, data-driven decision making, and smart agricultural systems in addressing emerging challenges in farming and rural development.
Dr. P. L. Patil, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, UAS Dharwad, and President of the Foundation, presided over the function. Dr. M. N. Sheelavantar, former Vice-Chancellor, UASB
and Founder of the Foundation; Dr. Ashok S. Patil and Dr. Sheela S. Patil, Founder Members, were the Guests of Honour. Dr. B. N. Aravinda Kumar, General Secretary of the foundation Smt. Parvati Kurle, Shri Ravikumar Maliger, Shri Veeranagouda Policegoudar, Shri Basavaraj Kundagolmath Members of the Board of Management were present on the occasion.
During the programme, the “Sri Virupakshappa G. Angadi – Best Performing Farmers Producers’ Company” award was presented. Two publications were also released: the Proceedings of the National Seminar on Biochar–2024 and an anthology of poems by Prof. Basavaraj Chittapur, former Director of Extension, UAS Raichur.
Dr. V. B. Kuligod, Dean (Agri) welcomed the gathering, and, Dr. S.Rajkumara proposed the vote of thanks. The programme concluded with the National Anthem, followed by the General Body Meeting of the Foundation.
